If You Don’t Start Now When Should You?

Diane Concialdi, October 13, 2008

The occupation you are in now is most likely not your passion. The way you know is when you would do it for free, you don’t think about pay, and you feel fulfilled in it.  It takes courage to step out and make the decision to start a business; the passion gives you fuel.  Keep your “backup plan” for a while to bring in another source of income. Work part time or for commission only. Or you could work another talent into your income stream; play the spoons :-) , basket weave, oil paint, organize, sing or play music. Once you identify your passion you must grow, stimulate and strengthen it. You can easily find out what your passion is by asking your friends and family.

Work on yourself, read about small business, gain confidence in doing what you love by offering it to family and friends first and then choose what you will charge. Your passion is so natural to you that it’s difficult to put a price or place a value on it. You will not understand why anyone couldn’t do what you do when it seems like common sense.

Everyone has a special gift or talent which is most likely their passion. You may have even mentioned what you would love to do before without even thinking about starting a business! Now is the time!
