Hi fellow stagers and homeowners! If you’ve noticed, there are certain areas within the housing market where home staging is useful. However, as homeowners lose their homes to short sales, foreclosures or auctions left and right, home staging isn’t the first thing on their minds. So how do we pick our niche, or demographic? Even professionals and business owners have been affected by this housing market and it’s not over. So I’ve offered the points below:
1. Concentrate on a smaller area – beach areas, area codes, etc.
2. Choose to stage vacant or occupied homes – think about your inventory
3. Pick a price range of homes – below $500k or over $500k
4. Market to an age group – young families, dual income, small children
5. Include the average wages earned – $100k and over
6. Include samples of your work for this demographic – carry a portfolio of your work and include testimonials
I don’t know about you but I’m having a little bit of trouble with this and would appreciate anyone’s comments on how they handle it while everyone struggles through this housing market. If you have any other ideas, please comment. Thanks!
