Rental Furniture for Staging

Author: Diane Concialdi, July 6, 2010

DC Redesign uses rental furniture for our staging jobs. There are many benefits in using rental furniture compared to staging companies who have their own inventory:

1. It’s the best option to get the look you want since there are many styles, colors and choices for lamps, art and plants to choose from.

2. The delivery, set-up and pick-up, liability insurance and damage waiver is included in the price.

3. It’s faster for the actual staging process since the delivery is quick (within 48 hours), and the help DC Redesign gets from the service offered allows us to focus on the details of preparing your property for sale.

4. The cost to store furniture and the extra time needed for upkeep, cleaning, or replacement of used furniture is not carried over into our pricing. Plus, new furniture pieces are added more often.

5. We offer many patio furniture pieces, and in 3 different levels of pricing.

6. There are many “sale” options for pricing and we carry these savings over to you!

Whether you’re looking for a full stage for your home for sale, or just a partial stage, we want to help in the success of selling your home faster!

Do You Know Anyone Who Does This?

Handmade basketsDiane Concialdi of DC Redesign, a real estate staging company in Orange County CA makes handmade baskets out of reed. The one on the left is an “egg basket”, the the other two have no names.  I may include a video sometime in the future to show how these are made step by step. But for now, you get a picture. They are very easy to create! Enjoy!

DC Redesign is available for staging your home in Orange County, CA, and surrounding areas. I’m working on a plan that will help homeowners with a better pay plan. Contact Diane at 714-815-3506 or email diane@dcredesign.com.

Staging for “Combined” Homes

Author: Diane Concialdi, May 28, 2009

Combining two houses full of furniture from “bachelor and bachelorette” is not easy, and something you probably wouldn’t discuss much before walking down the isle. Living your lives separately has created your own style whether you like it or not. You may have too many of one thing; lamps, sofas, beds, more than 2 sets of dishes, or not much of anything, but it’s fun to create your new home together.

First, decide what items you want to keep, choose paint colors, and pieces you love. I’m sure there will be compromising when a piece is a floral pattern. In my opinion, you should create a home that’s more masculine in taste; it’s a lot easier for a woman to live with masculine tastes than a man when furniture and accessories don’t fit in the plan.  Also guys, please be sensitive to your lady’s feelings when you want to use your  favorite sports team colors! We bought patio umbrellas this past weekend,  and the Bronco fan that my husband is,  wanted one orange umbrella and one blue umbrella, both to be set up on the same patio! Do I need to say we bought two orange umbrellas?

If you’re having trouble placing your furniture in the right spot, or choosing colors and furniture pieces to stay in your home (I’ll also referee), please contact me for a redesign consultation. My report comes in a nice binder with pictures and suggestions, and the cost is based on the size of your home and how many rooms you want help with.

Your Choice of Furniture

Author: Diane Concialdi, March 26, 2008

When choosing styles of furniture think of how the room will be used – does your family want to relax, have fun, converse, eat or sleep in it?

1. Choose a overall color that harmonizes with the activity for your rooms and flows into your other rooms. If you’re using green in one room, be sure to add a hue of another green in your adjoining room.

2. Decide how many pieces of furniture you will need to have a useful room but don’t use too many.

3. The style of furniture is important. You wouldn’t want a sofa that’s uncomfortable and small for a family room or have dainty weak features.

4. Upholstered furniture should include some texture. Use color, nubby or smooth fabrics and don’t use all the same textured pieces together. It adds character to a room to combine leather with tweeds, for example. Consider also how it will be cleaned.

5. Choose darker woods for traditional rooms, lighter woods like pine, oak or white for country or cottage and contemporary pieces in metal usually with glass tops. It’s ok to combine styles but try to keep the lines of the furniture the same. A darker piece of furniture in simple lines can be modern.

6 .If you like lighter woods which are warm, choose a paint color for your walls in warm colors such as yellows, beiges and browns or greens. Think of the colors of the earth.

7. Neutral colored rooms need more textures and interesting contrasting furniture pieces. Add “layers” of interest in any room.

Whatever design you choose keep in mind this is your home and it should characterize your style and give your family comfort.
